DaoZang Volume 5 – Description of Contents

Book 21-25    A Faithful Rendition in Regular Text

Vol. [fascicle] 5 of the Daozang is a training manual for monks, with material on the Names of Gods – listing their many alternate names and residences.

Actual content from the ZhengTong woodblocks begins with page 1 – pages beginning with "0" are publisher's pages from the Yi Wen edition of 1961, and not from the original woodblocks. "Blank page"(s) are literally that; the monks instructed the printers to produce 94-page fascicles, and apparently when the printers came to a conflict between woodblocks and the designated 94 pages, they simply rounded out the fascicle with blank pages.

It is like a great drizzling, misty chaotic sea, the only break in it being the unfolding of the Bright Scenery (Guang). What this really means that every 9 years, that by [using the method of] Relieving the Soul Out of Purgatory (Pu Du) [life] is endless and inexhaustible. This actually deals with a Secret (Bi), one that is writen in Divine Characters (Tian Wen).
  356. 91b2 The Great Brahmin (Da Fan) says that bad things run counter in this age to the Great God (Shang Di).
