Daoist doctrines says that the whole of the first lunar month of the new year
is to be spent in fasting and reciting the scriptures
'The Flying God Summons the Marvelous Power' (Fei Shen Zhao Ling).
The Superior Vital Spirit (Hun) is to fly up to the Nineth Heaven
(Jiu Tian- the highest of all the Heavens) to take in the Way (Dao)
that is Harmonious and True (He Zhen).
The whole of the seventh month of the lunar year [is to be spent] fasting and reciting
the poems that are part of the Scriptures (Jing).
The Divine Spirit-Energy (Shen Ling) will not experience Dark and Gloom (Mei) while

Chū Rù Yǎo Míng Dòng Dá Yōu Wēi Yŏng Bǎo Zhǎng Shēng
coming in and going out, disappearing into the secret, hidden
Nether World - minute and [yet] profound,
perpetually promised a Long Life (Zhang Sheng).

Shí Yuè Zhǎng Zhāi Sòng Yŏng Shì Jīng Nèi Wài
One is to spend the whole of the tenth month of the lunar year
fasting and reciting these Scriptures concerning
These Internal and External (Nei Wai)

Míng Chè Qì Chū Fù Tà Shén Suí Yì Wǎng Jù Sàn Biàn Huà
transparent influences go out, and on their returning bring Confusion (Ta).
The gods will go in the direction of this [to control] the gathering together
and dispersement of Change,

Jiē Dé Yùn Dù Xìng Wù Zhēn Kōng Ān Zhèn Qí Fāng Rén Chēng Tài Píng
All gain the results of the Movement (Yun) to the limits
of their disposition to awaken to the truth.
The Empty Space (Kong) is filled with Peace and Tranquility (An Zhen).
That is why this place is what the people call the Great Peace (Tai Ping - the second
of the Daozang's four supplements and relating to the Tai Pai Jing)
