In the names given in the ranking order [of the]
Supreme Mystery (Tai Xuan- The DaoZang's First of the Four Supplements)
The True Grand-Monarch (Zhen Wang) holds the Office for Supervision
in its entirety, and places no constraints
on the Heavenly Gates (Tian Men).
[Accordingly,] in the East the Dipper's movements
are like those of a hidden machine.
In the West the Dipper is in charge of managing Qi.
In the North the Dipper manages
the Profound Dark Hub (Xuan Shu).

In the South the Dipper controls Life,
and Spirit and Mind (Sheng Shen).
In the Center the Dipper there mingles the Chief Inspector (Zong Jian)
and his crowd who control the Marvellous Power (Ling).
[Concerning] Divine-Supernatural Metamorphosis (Shen Bian)
there are the Five Emperors of Old (Wu Di).
Next below are those having jurisdiction
over Nature, Man, and Celestial Beings.
The God of Spring (Qing Di- the Cerulean Emperor)
applys Benevolence (Ren).
The God of Autumn (Bai Di - the White Emperor)
gives explicit Justice (Yi).
The God of Summer (Chi Di - the Red Emperor)

Lǐ Hēi D Shēng Zh Hung D Zhŭ Xn Wn Shn W Yu Qīng Shn M Wng
Jū Hn Dng Hu Ch Shn M Wng Shŏu Shn L Hu Bi

is the one who all about Etiquette and Ceremony (Li).
The God of Winter (Hei Di - the Black Emperor)
produces Life and Vitality.
Wisdom and Resourcefulness (Zhi) comes from
Huang Di (Shen Nong - the first Yellow Emperor (2967-2597 BCE))
He is the Monarch who brings the message that prevents
the Thousand Divine Spirits (Wan Shen) from overstepping
the Cerulean Divine Spirit (Qing Shen).
The King of the Demons (Mo Wang) is likewise restrained.
and sees that one's Soul (Hun) is calmed.
In China the Land of the Flower (Hua) the Red God (Chi Shen)
[attends to] the King of the Demons (Mo Wang),
keeping a close watch [over him].
The gods (Shen) are supernaturally smart.
Existing in a state of immediate intelligence
is the White God (Bai Shen).
